This was a rare opportunity. She didn’t know if there would be another.
No one knew Gary’s next move. In the worst-case scenario, he could target Jacob ahead of schedule.
As Chelsey pondered this, Karl’s robotic voice broke the silence. It sounded like he was sneering.
“I just need some time. Now connect your laptop to the computer using the USB cable.”
Chelsey followed Karl’s instructions, determined not to leave empty- handed.
At the West Wind Restaurant.
Jason remained calm in response to Gary’s question. “What do you mean by that, Mr. Moreno?”
Gary frowned, a cold smile curling his lips. “It seems you prefer not to be honest with me. In that case, there’s nothing left for us to discuss.”
Then, Gary got up and pretended to leave.
“You’re indeed smart, Mr. Moreno,” Jason cut in in a calm voice.
Gary paused, feeling a surge of anger, though he was curious about Jason’s intentions.
“Why don’t you level with me, Mr. Martin? I admit I’m interested in your high-quality building materials, but I prefer to partner with honest people.”
Honest people?
A disdainful look flickered across Jason’s face. Gary didn’t have the right to say that.
Jason looked up at Gary with his deep, cold eyes. Noticing Gary’s growing impatience, he explained, “Actually, I’m here because of Chelsey.”
Gary raised a brow in confusion.
Jason’s expression darkened as he seemed to recall something, and he spoke in a gloomy tone. “I can work with you and sell you my high- quality building materials at a low price. In return, I want you to help me stop Chelsey from marrying Stanley.”
Gary was shocked by Jason’s proposition. A moment later, his suspicion seemed to wane.
Gary suddenly laughed, his expression softening, but he didn’t completely drop his guard.
“I see, I didn’t expect you to love Chelsey that much.”
Jason pressed his lips together, his face sullen.
“As you may know, Chelsey hates me. I don’t have a choice.”
Gary took on the role of a wise elder and continued speaking.
He sighed. “You young people tend to complicate things over feelings, yet… Chelsey has her own opinions, and as her father, I don’t want to push her, but I do want her happiness. Even though Stanley is decent, he doesn’t match your skills. I also noticed that you have feelings for Chelsey. For Chelsey’s happiness, I will consider this matter carefully.”
