His lengthy speech was motivated by his desire for those advanced building materials.

Gary was quite the hypocrite.

He was cautious earlier, but now he has assumed the role of a benevolent elder.

Driven by his own interests, he showed no real concern for Chelsey.

If he did, he wouldn’t exploit her, knowing she was battling severe depression.

Jason’s eyes grew cold, though he masked it well.

“To demonstrate my commitment, Mr. Moreno, I’ve prepared the contract for you.”

Gary’s eyes sparkled at the sight of the contract.

“In that case, I’ll sign it right away. As for Chelsey, I’ll have a word with her.”

“Thank you, Mr. Moreno. Let’s discuss the details now.”

As the evening set in, Karl finally spoke on the video call.

“Done. It was a bit of a hassle, but not too tough. Give it another go.”

Chelsey restarted Gary’s computer and she gained access without any trouble. She was thrilled.

The USB drive began to work.

Soon after, as she saw the process complete, she quickly grabbed her belongings and left.

Just as she exited the office, she heard footsteps in the emergency stairway!

Her heart raced.

Who else was in the building at this hour?

She quickly hid behind a door. Someone ascended, and suddenly the hallway lights went out.

At that moment, a flashlight beam switched on.

It was then that Chelsey saw the security guard.

The flashlight swept around twice, and Chelsey felt sweat bead on her forehead. She was terrified of being caught but only relaxed when the security guard moved on.

She hurried away.

Reaching the ground floor, she found the hall completely dark, a sign she was alone in the building. Yet, she remained cautious.
