Marcus couldn’t hold back his sobs. He said in a low voice, “Why would you say that? He’s my grandfather, Millie, no matter how bad he was. He didn’t deserve to be murdered.”
“Your grandfather, right? Well, Lucia is my grandmother!”
Millie had lost all of her cool at that moment. She roared, “Of course, he deserves death! He deserves to rot in hell!”
Not long after that, her voice became hoarse and her tears, as salty as the sea, slipped into her mouth.
For a few seconds, there was silence on both ends of the call. Mille could feel something in their relationship collapse.
“Mr. Marcus Thomas, you heard what she just said loud and clear! She’s too vicious to be human. Mr. Thomas is very much alive, but she rained all those curses on him. This is just unacceptable!”
“That’s absolutely right! Please allow us to drag her here! She has to confess in front of Mr. Thomas. He would have ordered for us to kill her already!”
“Mr. Marcus Thomas, this woman is full of pretense! She acts innocent just to deceive you. Truth is I have never met a woman so cunning.”
Hearing that, Marcus yelled with rage, “Shut the hell up! Not a single word should come of your mouths, unless you want it to be your last!”
His roar sent chills down Millie’s spine.
The next thing she heard was a beep, which indicated that Marcus had hung up the phone.
Chapter 535 Say Something, Please
Marcus had sent off everyone that had initially gathered in Victor’s room, with the exception of Brett.
He took a quick look at Victor, who had lost his consciousness. The knife stab had gone very deep. By some miracle, it hadn’t touched any fatal organs, but it did make him lose a quite significant amount of blood.
Victor appeared drained of color. Nonetheless, everyone knew well that he would make a quick recovery. Once he woke up, he would see to it that the person who stabbed him would not live to see the next sunrise.
Turning to look at Brett, Marcus pursed his lips with a stern look on his face.
“Brett, are you certain that there was no one else on that floor apart from the three of you at that time? Have you gone through the surveillance footage?”
Brett bent his head down slightly and answered, “Yes, I’m certain that there were only three of us. And, unfortunately, the restaurant has no surveillance cameras installed. I am to blame for all this. If I hadn’t gone to the bathroom at that time, I could have known what had taken place at that time. As a matter of fact, I would have prevented it from happening.”
Marcus slowly walked to the French window. His shadow grew longer on the floor because the wall Lamp had been turned off.
“You came back from the restroom to find Millie standing at the top of the stairs and Grandpa stabbed, lying in the middle of the stairs. Do I get you right?”
“Precisely. She wasn’t anywhere near him, so there seemed to be no way this was her doing. But, her fingerprints are all over the knife and she admitted that she hated Mr. Thomas so deeply that she really wanted to see him dead.”
Marcus couldn’t help but clench his fists in anger. All along, he had thought that the worst thing that could happen was him separating from Millie: for the time being. He had planned to ask his grandfather to hand over the detonator of the bomb on Millie’s body first, after which he would secretly Leave the island and come back to Millie.
He had never expected so much to happen in such a short time.
“Mr. Marcus Thomas, if I may ask, what do you plan on doing about this?”
