“Stop!” Hannah intervened immediately. She stood up and walked over. “We’ll talk alone, in the garden.”
“Hannah!” Edwin protested. “I’m coming with you!”
Hannah raised her hand to halt him. “We’ll be just outside. This is the White family’s villa, and there are guards stationed out there.”
Hannah and Omar stepped into the garden, where the moonlight cast a soft glow, creating dappled shadows along the winding path.
The night breeze whispered through the garden, carrying a_ refreshing coolness and a sense of tranquility. Flowers bloomed softly all around, their delicate fragrances mingling in the still air.
“Go ahead, what’s this about?” Hannah asked, her gaze sharp as she cut straight to the chase.
Omar sighed softly and began, “You don’t need to be so wary of me. The Phoenix Plan is designed to launch a groundbreaking new energy technology that could revolutionize the current energy market. Honestly, I never intended to target the Mitchell family in the first place. I’m aware that Bryson is already preparing to confront me.”
Omar appeared to have anticipated her response and continued, “The Morrison family shouldn’t be able to compete with the Mitchells. However, with foreign investment coming in and my confidence in this technology, the outcome is uncertain. Even if we can’t come out on top, it won’t be easy for Bryson to succeed either.”
Hannah regarded him coolly. “So, what exactly do you want? Why are you telling me all this?”
Omar chuckled softly. “I can sell the core technology to the Mitchell family. Our two families could collaborate instead of going head-to-head.”
His unexpected proposal took Hannah by surprise.
Narrowing her eyes, she let out a cold laugh. “I know the Morrison family can’t pull this off. This new energy technology must have come from the person backing you, right?”
Standing in front of Hannah, Omar smiled but didn’t deny her assumption.
Hannah’ sneered, “Omar, I don’t believe a word you’re saying! You took his new energy technology and now you’re claiming you want to collaborate with the Mitchell family. Do you have any idea what will happen to you if you cross him?”
Omar’s expression shifted, his eyes darkening. “It seems you know who that person is.”
Seeing Omar’s reaction, Hannah felt even more confident in her assumption.
The person backing Omar couldn’t be Remington; it had to be Peterson.
Omar’s voice took on an urgent tone. “He’s asking me to risk the entire Morrison family’s fortune in a battle against Bryson! He’s a lunatic! I refuse to follow him down that path!”
Hannah raised her eyebrows, a flicker of skepticism in her eyes. “You want to team up with the Mitchell family just to escape his grasp? Do you honestly believe they’ll trust you that easily?”
“I bring my sincerity to the table,” Omar said, pulling a secured USB drive from his pocket and setting it on the bench with care. “This holds the core data of the Phoenix Plan-technical details and implementation strategies. I’m ready to act as a middleman to foster collaboration between the Mitchell family and foreign investors, sharing in the future of the new energy market.”
Hannah stared at the USB drive, her mind racing with conflicting emotions.
This was undeniably a massive temptation, but it also carried potential dangers. “Omar, aren’t you worried about the consequences? He won’t take this lightly.”
Omar offered a bitter smile. “Every step I take feels Like dancing on the edge of a blade. But compared to being a pawn on someone else’s chessboard, I’d much rather control my own fate.”
Although his character left much to be desired, Hannah couldn’t deny he had a point. In the long run, aligning himself with Peterson would likely lead to his own downfall. It was a risky gamble, but perhaps it was one worth taking.
