“You’re running out of time,” Hannah urged, aware that Bryson was likely making his own moves. “You need to talk to Bryson directly. I don’t want to be the messenger between you two.”
“I will,” Omar replied, “but first, I need you to pass a message to Bryson for me. Just say…” He paused, weighing his words. “Tell him I hope he can collaborate with me. If I approach him directly, he might not trust my intentions.”
Hannah sneered, “I won’t trust you either until everything is settled. It’s on you to gain Bryson’s trust.” She pointed at the USB drive on the bench.
“If you want to prove yourself, take that to Bryson yourself.”
A brief silence settled over the conversation. In the garden, the only sounds. were the rustling of leaves in the wind and the distant chirping of insects. The atmosphere felt heavy with unspoken thoughts and lingering tension.
Omar let out a resigned sigh as he picked up the USB drive from the bench.
“Alright, I’ll meet him in person. I just hope there’s still time.”
“Wait.” Hannah’s voice cut through the air, her gaze sharp and unwavering.
“I hope you won’t regret trying to collaborate with Bryson. If you betray him and it backfires, the Morrison family will face a grim fate.”
Omar turned back to meet Hannah’s gaze, recognizing the warning in her eyes.
After a brief nod, he said nothing further and made his way out of the White family garden, following the moonlit path.
Hannah watched him walk away, her heart heavy with mixed emotions. She couldn’t tell if helping Omar was the right choice or a mistake. As she turned back indoors, the warm family atmosphere felt starkly contrasting to the tension she had just experienced.
“So, what did he want from you?” Edwin asked, his curiosity evident.
Hannah quickly summarized Omar’s proposal. Byrum and Jalen exchanged glances, their expressions suggesting they were contemplating the deeper implications of what he had suggested.
“What exactly is Omar plotting?” Edwin muttered to himself. “Does he really intend to collaborate with the Mitchell family?”
Hannah shook her head. “I’m not sure. His Phoenix Plan created such a stir before, and now he’s seeking collaboration with the Mitchell family? Something just doesn’t sit right with me about him.”
“We should inform Bryson about this,” Byrum said seriously. “Contact him immediately. We need to be prepared for any outcome.”
Hannah nodded and grabbed her phone to call Bryson, but before she could dial, the screen lit up with his name calling in.
“Hannah, there’s been some new progress on the Phoenix Plan.” Bryson’s voice came through, sounding a bit more at ease.
“Does it involve Omar?” Hannah asked sharply.
“Yes, Omar called me. He said he’s bringing all the core data of the Phoenix Plan to meet with me. It seems he really does want to collaborate with the Mitchell family.”
Hannah replied, “He just met with me. He called you that quickly? He must be really desperate. What do you think?”
“So, he saw you first? I’ll verify whether the data on his USB drive is real.
If he genuinely wants to collaborate, we should take this opportunity to coordinate with the forces supporting Peterson and Remington and eliminate them..all at once!” Bryson suggested.
