Hannah took a deep breath. “But we need to stay vigilant. I don’t entirely trust him.”

Bryson was silent for a moment before saying, “I understand. I’ll set up a meeting. But Hannah, please be careful. I’m concerned that Peterson might act out of desperation.”

“I will, don’t worry,” Hannah replied confidently. “With my father in control, there’s no way he can extend his influence into Cadilind to threaten me!”

Yet, deep down, she sensed that an even fiercer storm was on the horizon.

After hanging up, Hannah stared out the window, lost in thought. The garden was softly illuminated by the moonlight, casting a serene glow over the landscape. But beneath that tranquil facade, the night seemed to harbor countless hidden dangers, lurking just beyond the shadows.

“Hannah, you and Bryson…” Edwin began, wanting to ask more, but Byrum cut him off.

“Let’s eat first. If anything comes up, I’ll handle it tomorrow.” Byrum’s authoritative tone brooked no argument, yet he offered Hannah a reassuring look, as if to remind her that whatever challenges awaited, her family would always stand by her side as her greatest support.

Dinner continued, but an undercurrent of tension filled the air, hinting at the storm that was brewing. As the meal neared its end, Hannah stood up and glanced around the table. “Grandpa, I’m feeling full. Please, enjoy the rest of your meal. I have some work I need to take care of.”

“Go ahead, we understand,” Byrum said gently, his eyes reflecting the love and trust he held for his granddaughter.

Hannah smiled and nodded before making her way to her room, already plotting her next steps. Just then, her phone vibrated, and a new message flashed on the screen.

“Tomorrow at noon, top floor conference room, Mitchell Group. Omar has requested a meeting with all parties involved.”

It was a message from Bryson, confirming that the contents of the USB drive were indeed genuine. If they could successfully collaborate with the Morrison family, it would completely thwart Peterson’s plans.

Yet, despite the promising news, Hannah felt an inexplicable wave of anxiety wash over her. Gripping her phone tightly, she returned to her room and let out a long sigh of relief. Once settled, she opened her computer and logged onto the Dark Web to send a message to Dilan and Dotson.

“How are things going? Is my father okay?”

A response came back almost immediately after she sent the message. “Don’t worry, boss! Mr. Compton is recovering beautifully! And we’ve got some good news: -We found Leviathan! That scoundrel is definitely in league with Peterson! He was the one who sent the assassin to kill you last time!”

Hannah’s expression froze in surprise at the unexpected news. She hadn’t anticipated hearing about Leviathan so soon after returning to Cadilind.

Without hesitation, she typed out her response. “Have you captured him?”

Dotson quickly replied, “Not yet. He escaped the Last time. But Mr. Compton has already dispatched his team to make preparations. Next time, he won’t slip through our fingers. And the Lyons family’s influence has taken a serious hit. The Holmes family is coming in to support us, which gives the Compton family some breathing room to deal with Peterson. He’s really in a tough spot now.”

Hannah tapped her fingers rhythmically on the table, deep in thought. It appeared that Peterson was being cornered from all sides. Perhaps this was the perfect opportunity to eliminate him for good.

The next morning, Hannah drove to the Mitchell Group with Edwin in the passenger seat. He stifled a yawn and said, “Hannah, the meeting isn’t until noon. Why did you drag me out of bed so early? It’ll take us at least two hours to get there, even if we leave now.” He rubbed his eyes.

Then, he stretched Lazily and added, “Why not just take a helicopter? That would definitely be quicker.”

As the lights turned red, Hannah gradually brought the car to a stop and playfully smacked Edwin on the head. “We’re going there for business, not to make a spectacle!”

Edwin rubbed the back of his head, a sheepish grin spreading across his face.

“I was just joking,” he admitted, his tone light and playful.
